Guided Stripers on The Fly: Southern Maine
Since Kyle Schaefer graduated from UNH in 2007, he’s been helping anglers pursue their dream fish, teaching them to be more effective on the water, and encouraging his clients to more deeply engage in the conservation of our wild places and wild fish.
Kyle draws on a unique wealth of experience and perspectives that have been formed through a dedicated career guiding for multiple species in several countries, founding fishing lodges in the Bahamas & Canada and consulting for the American Saltwater Guides Association.
-
Flats Focused
Flats fishing for striped bass at its finest. Technical presentations, tailing fish, and heart-pounding interactions. Unique, challenging and incredibly visual.
-
A Myriad Of Environs
From May to October stripers inhabit rocks, beaches, flats, channels, and near shore structure. We’ll chase ‘em in all these elements and use specific tactics at each stop.
-
Angler Growth
Teaching is at the core every trip… Whether it’s techniques for sight fishing, casting further & more accurately, or learning about our complex ecosystem Kyle loves to share.
Rates, etc.
6 Hours Fishing
$650 // Kyle’s most popular option gives anglers a look at distinctly different levels of tide throughout the experience. Expect to fish a number of different elements - and if the conditions are favorable - you’ll find Kyle and his clients on the flats, hunting and stalking.
8+ Hours Guided Fishing
$800 // Adventurous combo day. Start early and end late for a full day experience. Days like this allow for creativity and opportunities to move freely about the fishery, getting a look at primo water at the right tide. Option to split this day for a morning & evening combo.
Technical Teaching
$100 per hour // Teaching is one of Kyle’s favorite ways to spend time in this sport. Sharing hard earned information is incredibly satisfying. Kyle specializes in casting instruction, the mental game, and shallow water sightfishing tactics.
Kyle runs a Maverick 18, a perfect tool for his approach to the fishery. Plenty of water and an iced cooler are provided compliments of YETI, and some good boat snacks will be available too. Kyle is entering his 11th season as a certified Maine guide (Summer 2025) and is a licensed USCG Captain. Kyle has very limited availability and typically does the majority of his booking in Jan/Feb for the upcoming summer. No deposit required, cash preferred, or Venmo.
